The new Rochester Links have arrived with an article by Revd. Jim Fletcher on page 11 – do have a read.

POST HARVEST SERMON CHALLENGE

Lawrie asked us to consider the following challenges in his sermon on October 1.

  • Symbolic Challenge 1: On each Monday morning set aside a £1 or £2 coin and place it in a place where it can be seen, as a symbol of our faith - following the faith of St Peter. [See Matthew 17 v 24 - 27].  On each Sunday add it to your weekly Church giving - in the pink envelope, or a church collection box. [See Chris Leonard] or into the Offering Bag. Thank you. Action - Every week until our 2018 Harvest Festival.

  • Symbolic Challenge 2: Place a new £10 note into an envelope marked “Church Notice Board Fund” and/or place a note into the envelope saying you will pray for our church mission with special emphasis throughout October. [If you cannot afford the £10, Lawrie has guaranteed to pay it for you.]  Please if you want to pay more or less see Rachel or the Church Wardens - the important point is the symbolism of prayer and offering. [By “ear-marking” the money it will go into a designated fund for that use only.] Please give it in the Offering Bag; for that will be the only way Lawrie can know and make any £10 contribution required. Thank you. Action - Closing Date October 31 2017.

  • Symbolic Challenge 3: This is for the over 65’s! Consider giving a tithe [one tenth] of your heating allowance to the upkeep of the church heating and lighting. Again place your offering in an envelope marked ‘Church Power Fund’ [By “ear-marking” the money it will go into a designated fund for that use only.] Thank you. Action - When the Government Heating allowance is or if it is given out!

[Please note this was a personal challenge to us all in his sermon and does not come from Dylan or the PCC although both have ideas for a new notice board and for the continued mission of the church which Lawrie is hoping we will all be of one - mind over. [ Philippians 2 v 1 - 11].
